Sleepless in Salt Lake
I have decided I have sleeping A.d.d. Some reason most nights when we get into bed my heart starts racing and then I panic because I think I am not going to be able to sleep. It creates a real problem. To help ease the anxiety a little bit I end up talking Tylers ear off for a long time. It is pretty funny when he finally says "hey not too be rude or anything but... I am falling asleep." I dont know whats worse though hearing that or when some snoring starts up mid conversation!
Does anyone have any solutions ? I have taken sleeping pills a couple times but then I dont want to get hooked so I stop.
By the way I reallly enjoyed everyones comments on the Bachelor! It was so fun to hear all the opinions. Looks like pretty much everyone is on the MElissa bandwagon but well have to tune in to see.

Wow if there was ever a post I could relate with...this one beats it!! This seems to happen to me more now that I have a standing date at the gym each morning. I think and think about getting to bed early and then bam its 1am. ARG!!! Lately I've been doing things to make my eyes tired...read a really long not that intense book-i'll give you the title if you want it but I'm embarrassed to say. I've also been playing a word game on the iphone that makes me sleepy...other than that I don't know- have kids?? That worked for me for a couple of years! haha. good luck lady
sleepless in HB
There's nothing worse than that! I think you are going to get a lot of responses cause I think a lot of people suffer from this. From what I've heard, if you can have a bedtime routine that involves relaxing and doing calm things--different people do different things, but some ideas are: a warm bath, listen to soothing music, herbal tea or warm milk, etc. I always have to read myself to sleep or I just lay there and think and toss and turn. I usually only read a page or two and I'm out.
I hope you can figure something out soon cause that gets really old really fast. I'm glad you aren't getting hooked on sleeping pills because they can be addictive no matter what they claim.
love you,
Susan/Mom
this happens to me sometimes too! i lay there thinking of events that have happened and i get anxiety about dumb things. when i was prego the doc had my take Unisom to help me with my morning sickness, and i only took 1/2 a pill a night and it did just enough to relax me. He said you can't get addicted to it but who knows?! other than that reading also helps me! good luck!
As you brobably know I've had a sleeping disorder since I taught seminary 35 years ago. Three years ago I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have had hundreds of clients with sleep disorders and would be happy to share some of my experiences with you if you would like to call. Susan hit on the main points.
Love, Mike
Joni could be another great contact on this one with the anxiety and sleeping thing. Glad you came out of your non-sleeping-shell, bet you never realized how many people feel the same way you do. I hope work is going well.
I say try Advil PM or the other kinds out there. They work, just follow the instructions on what time to take them and you don't get hooked. Good luck.
I hate nights that I can't fall asleep. I would say about once a month I have 1 or 2 nights in the same week where I lay away all night long only to fall asleep right around 6 am. It's the worst feeling ever!
I wish I had a solution for you but I will keep checking back for others solutions as I could definitely use some help here also.
Good luck!
jaimee, that's hilarious. I can totally see tyler saying that! HAHAHA
oh no! i'm sorry jaimee! that is just no fun...i hope all the advice everyone has given you can help you sleep better.
Haha you crack me up! Just cuz this is something that would happen to you! I wish I had some advice for you. You should probably ask Jenna since she seems to be able to fall asleep anywhere at anytime haha! I also live for my DVR somedays. What did we do without them!? You always look so cute in your pics by the way
I Agree with Jordan, Jenna is the perfect sleep expert at "resting her eyes" ;) ALthough I do the same thing sometimes - I sit there thinking about how bad I need to get to sleep, which in turn makes it worse. So I just have to take a deep breath, open my eyes, close them again and literally think in my head - RELAX - sometimes it helps. Easier said than done though! I think its the simple fact of thinking that we really need to get to sleep in order to get up for work, and it has the opposite effect. AH JOBS! They're the WORST! :)
Yoga and/or deep breathing. Warm water with honey and lemon.
Nighty night!
